Mike Quaid brings a wealth of experience and a diverse background well suited to evaluating transactions, working with business owners and managing growth. Mr. Quaid joined Boomer Natural Wellness in December of 2018. He is currently a co-owner and board member of Arizona Organics, an Arizona-based medical marijuana concern with growing facilities, and a medical dispensary. Recently he was the co-owner and Managing Director of Typhoon FX trading platforms which were sold in September 2018. Previously Mike was a Managing Partner for KC CO II after it was purchased from S.G. Warburg & Co. From 1995-2010, KC CO II was a successful Chicago-based trading firm which specialized in the equity options trading business that employed over 100 people. Mr. Quaid spent time in trading pits, position/risk management desk positions and was Head of European Derivatives in London for S.G. Warburg between 1992-1995. Mr. Quaid began his career as an auditor for Arthur Young & Company and later held various financial engineering roles for Sam Zell’s Itel Corporation before beginning his trading career. Mike is a 1984 graduate of Millikin University with a degree in accounting and a 1991 graduate of the Kellogg School of Business, Northwestern University where he earned his MBA with emphasis in Finance and Marketing.
Chairman of the Board
David Racz has held global senior executive positions at Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKline, and Novartis. In his various capacities, he has been responsible for developing strategy, directing multiple country operations, sales, marketing, and leading multiple corporate functions. Mr. Racz has extensive experience and success in start-up companies, spanning the nutraceutical and medical cannabis industry. From 2006-2008 he served as a member of the executive management teams for Mova Vie. As Senior Vice President of Operations and Distributor Relations, his leadership was instrumental to the success of the company and its identification as “one of the fastest growing companies in the US,” achieving revenues of $1 billion in a 2-year span. In 2009 Racz was an early pioneer in the emerging medical cannabis industry in the state of Colorado. From 2009-2012 he acquired interest in and operated multiple dispensaries; established the first testing laboratory in Colorado; oversaw the design and build of a 30,000 square ft, full-compliment and license cultivation facility (one of the first of its kind in the state). Mr. Racz recently served as the Vice Chairman of the board for POS Bio Sciences.
Thomas Ziemann is a 1982 graduate of Bemidji State University with a BS in Business Administration. Mr. Ziemann began his Career in 1982 with Federated Mutual Insurance Company in Owatonna, MN. He began his sales career as a Marketing Representative in Willmar, MN, then moved to Eau Claire, WI, in 1990. He completed his CIC designation in 1986, while earning top sales membership into the prestigious Presidents Council and Distinguished Service Award as a Senior Marketing Representative. In July 1992, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to join a small independent insurance agency called RJF Agencies, Inc. as a partner/shareholder/owner and EVP. Over the next 23 years, he helped build the culture, passion, and vision of a great core group of people. After starting with 9 people in 2 offices, he retired in December 2014 as one of over 800 employees in 15 offices. He is currently a co-owner and a board member of Arizona Organics. Mr. Ziemann is known as a “connector” of people. He brings a unique skill set in sales leadership, capital raising, and passion.
Daniel Capri was formerly the owner and operator of several gaming locations in Las Vegas with revenues consistently in the millions for over twenty years. Mr. Capri has also held several highly regulated Nevada gaming licenses. Daniel and his family were part of the founding team at Xyience, a leading supplement and energy drink company. Daniel has been the Owner and Founder of Whale Sports since inception in 2017, helping to grow sales from zero to over a million in revenue in the first year. Daniel’s family is in the hemp plant farming industry in Oregon and may end up being an important supplier to Boomer.
James Thomsen serves as a member of the Boomer Natural Wellness board of directors. Jim brings over 30 years of business experience, including 20 of those years as a Fortune 500 senior executive. Prior to joining Boomer, Jim served Thrivent Financial as a member of the organization’s executive management team. During his Thrivent tenure, Jim held the roles of Senior Vice President, Chief Distribution Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, and most recently as President of Thrivent Holdings, where he provided oversight, leadership, and strategic direction for a portfolio of eight Thrivent subsidiaries within the banking, insurance, and investment domains. During that time, Jim also was responsible for business acquisition and the development of ventures to broaden the company’s market impact. Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in management from Luther College, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. Mr. Thomsen has served on multiple boards of directors, currently as a member of the Luther College Board of Regents, and on the board of the InFaith Community Foundation.
Daniel Malina is a member of the Boomer Natural Wellness board of directors. He brings over twenty-five years of corporate strategy and deal experience to the firm. Prior to joining Boomer, Mr. Malina was a senior vice president of Corporate Development at General Mills (“GMI”) where he led the development of the Company’s strategy, acquisitions, and a venture fund. During his twelve years with GMI, Mr. Malina was responsible for creating and executing the strategy that aligned business units with the Company’s vision. He also led numerous acquisition and divestiture activities across the globe, including the acquisition of The Pillsbury Company, the largest deal in General Mills’ history. Before joining GMI, Mr. Malina was vice president of Corporate Development at RR Donnelley and held multiple corporate and operating roles at Bell & Howell and United States Gypsum Company. Mr. Malina is currently a director of Captek, Russky Products (a Russian Food Company) and Amira Natural Foods in India (NYSE listing ANFI). He also serves on the Chicago Advisory Board of L.E.K. Mr. Malina serves as a board member of the University of Minnesota School of Technology and Leadership. Mr. Malina holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and an M.B.A. from Loyola University of Chicago.
